Home Depot Opens Atlanta Automated DC
December 21, 2020
The Home Depot opened a new distribution center this week in Locust
Grove, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. So far, the company has hired
and trained nearly 550 new associates to staff the new facility, which
will support faster replenishment to keep stores throughout the
Southeast continuously stocked with the most popular products.
This facility boasts many leading supply chain technologies and
enhancements such as zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell charging, which is
a sustainable and more efficient way to power material handling
equipment, automated trailer check-in and wider conveyors to help the
building move high volumes of products faster than ever before.
“Our
ability to adapt and scale to this high-demand environment is a
testament to both the investments we’ve made in the business, as well as
our associates’ focus on our customers,” said Paul Larkin, vice
president of supply chain distribution.
The new facility is a continuation of the company’s $1.2 billion
investment in the company’s distribution and delivery network expansion
to reach 90 percent of the U.S. population with same-day and next-day
delivery options. It is one of three new facilities that will open in
the Atlanta market over the next 14 months, which will eventually create
over 700 new jobs. |
